Notes:
Billed as a "black farce" this provided the twin challenges of an all-white
set with gloss finish and a venue I didn't know. I visited the venue a week before
the show and realised the importance of noting the positions of wooden roof beams
across most of the lighting positions. The set meant I could really play with
colour and reflected light here. The lighting changed from relatively bright and
naturalistic at the start of Act 1 (Venetian Blind gobos, washes of orange down
the walls, bright front light) to an increasingly saturated palette as the intensity
of the character's emotional turmoil became more obvious. The image above is the
end of the show when it's clear that the characters are locked in a desperate
world with no way out.

Apologies for
the poor quality of these photographs. Never leave your decent camera at home
